Prime Minister di Rupo visits DAF Trucks Flanders

On Friday May 17, the Prime Minister of Belgium, Elio Di Rupo, paid a working visit to the ultra-modern DAF axle and cab factory in Oevel (Westerlo). DAF invested about one billion Euros in a completely new vehicle series for Euro 6 and in modifications to its factories in the Netherlands and Belgium to make production of the new generation of trucks possible. Prime Minister Di Rupo came to DAF Trucks Flanders to inform himself of the many innovations in the modern axle and cab plant.

For DAF, the new Euro 6 emission legislation *) was the trigger to develop a completely new vehicle series: the new XF for long-distance transport, the new CF for a multitude of applications and the new LF for distribution. These trucks play an important role in the further development of the success of DAF, which is one of the most successful truck manufacturers in Europe. Last year, a record market share of 16.0% was achieved in the heavy-truck segment, accounting for second place in the European market. In Belgium, DAF was market leader for the third consecutive year, with a market share of 22%.
