Leyland Trucks Celebrates 10 Years as a PACCAR company
Leyland, the United Kingdom's leading truck manufacturer, celebrated its
tenth anniversary as a PACCAR company by earning a record profit and delivering
24.700 vehicles to customers throughout the world.
Leyland operated one of the most efficient truck factories in the
world. The 710,000-square-foot plant incorporates an innovative robotic chassis
paint facility and a state-of-the-art advanced planning and scheduling system
to produce DAF's LF, CF and XF product lines.
In 2008, Leyland extended its full-bodied truck program to include
the DAF CF model range. This innovative body building programme integrates
Leyland's world class engineering and manufacturing expertise to deliver
premium quality bodies direct from the factory, and streamlines the delivery
process by 50 percent.
Leyland Trucks became the first commercial vehicle manufacturer in
Europe to achieve the designation of “Zero Waste to Landfill”,
demonstrating PACCAR's commitment to environmental stewardship.
Leyland earned “Best Manufacturing Logistics and Resource
Efficiency” and “Best Financial Management” industry honours
in 2008. The awards are sponsored by the U.K.'s Institute of Mechanical
Engineers and are based on the assessment of over 60 U.K. based manufacturing
companies.

Leyland is recognized as one of the most efficient truck
facilities in the industry. Leyland produces the complete DAF vehicle range for
the U.K. DAF achieved over 27 percent market share in the U.K. and is the
leader in every major market sector.
