Material Handling Process Engineer 

 

We're looking for a talented Material Process Engineer to join our established Materials team in Leyland, Lancashire.

   

Department 

The Leyland Trucks’ Materials team has responsibility for managing the inbound supply of parts from our global supplier base into the Leyland Assembly Plant, with the requirement of achieving on time delivery whilst maintaining minimum inventory levels and optimising transport costs and storage space.

In this role you would:

Your tasks will depend on business needs, but may include:

  • Reviewing and maintaining the Material Handling assignments to ensure excellent levels of efficiency
  • Identifying efficiency improvement opportunities within the Material Handling processes through the removal of waste
  • Controlling the decision making process around storage location and feed of material
  • Driving the expansion of tow train feed processes to reduce interaction between pedestrian and forklifts from assembly areas
  • Assisting in development of future storage solutions to maximise storage densities throughout the site and to satisfy future volume requirements
  • Providing expertise in best ergonomic working practices within Material Handling 

 

What we're looking for:

  • Highly motivated and capable of achieving excellent standards in a challenging and dynamic environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively and influence at all levels
  • Highly numerate with excellent data analysis & reporting skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Computer literate with excellent attention to detail
  • Lean / Green Belt Six Sigma preferred

Salary

Circa £40k depending on experience
