Information Technology is fundamental to the success of Leyland Trucks. Our onsite IT team is an active member of the ITD Europe group and an influential part of PACCAR's Global IT Division.

 

We provide a comprehensive range of services directly to the assembly plant and beyond into Europe and the UK dealer network. 

The department operates with a flat structure and has approximately 30 experienced staff who are all encouraged to contribute to the success of their team. A small management team is responsible for:

Designers Windows Server Admins Project Managers
Developers Database Administrators
Test Analysts Network Administrators
User Support Analysts Voice System Admins

 

Working with colleagues from the business, the application team delivers innovative and market leading bespoke solutions using Oracle and Microsoft .Net technologies. In addition, they support modified standard applications from vendors including Oracle, JDA and PTC.

Our infrastructure team implements and supports robust, mission critical systems based on industry standard technologies from suppliers such as Dell, IBM, CISCO, Oracle, Microsoft, and VMWare.

The IT function forms an integral part of the business enabling the plant to run efficiently and produce outputs of award winning quality. Staff are expected to contribute and implement ideas which make significant improvements and efficiency savings for the business.

Staff training and development forms an important part of the running of the department. The wide variety of work within a small team provides ample new challenges and opportunities to develop new skills both locally and on European & Global projects. Formal external training is provided to equip employees with the knowledge and skills to carry out their tasks. 

IT activities are governed and controlled using industry standard frameworks such as ITIL and COBIT.
