E-Drive Systems Engineer

We're looking for a talented Senior Systems Engineer to join our established Product Development Group in Leyland, Lancashire.

Work within a world-class Product Development team, responsible for new product design and validation for the UK’s market-leading commercial vehicle manufacturer. Help define and deliver complex control systems for the next generation of sustainable commercial vehicles.
Leyland Trucks is the centre of medium duty truck expertise within the global PACCAR corporation, and a team of approximately 120 engineers are responsible for the XB vehicle model.

In this role you would:

Your tasks will depend on our project needs, but may include:

  • Following the Project Creation Process
  • Organising meetings to discuss relevant technical topics
  • Liaising with key stakeholders within PACCAR global divisions to create requirements and definitions for product specifications and performance within designated tool chains
  • Liaise with external suppliers and partners to define and develop products to suit the entire PACCAR range
  • Prepare and present key milestone, issues and change requests from either supplier or PACCAR divisions
  • Handle change management processes within the projects for approval
  • Help solve engineering problems using known and proven engineering solutions
  • Support global build of prototypes/DV/QV/VV vehicles with your components
  • Take into consideration changing customer needs and government regulation/legislation when developing new designs and manufacturing procedures
  • Investigate failures during testing and own component related problems to resolution
  • Liaise with supplier and supply chain management personnel to ensure smooth process and availability (SSQA/APQP processes)
  • Support and maintain FMEA processes related to the e-Powertrain systems, hold relevant meetings, and create sound relevant DVP&R for validation requirement.

 

What We're Looking For:

  • Degree or equivalent in automotive/mechanical/electrical/mechatronics/controls
  • Proven background in varied automotive electric driveline systems (3+ years preferred)
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of automotive electric machines and power electronics
  • Knowledge of vehicle functional safety in line with ISO26262 an advantage
  • Knowledge of Cyber Security an advantage
  • Knowledge of controls and vehicle architecture an advantage
  • Automotive industry preferably at OEM level
  • Cross company communications
  • DFMEA/DVP&R/DFSS
  • Requirements management tools an advantage (DNG, Polarion).

Salary

Circa £50k depending on experience
