e-Drive Systems – Systems Owner 

We are looking for an e-Drive System Owner with ambition to work at the forefront of PACCAR vehicle electrification projects. 

Department  

The PACCAR Powertrain eDS team are looking for a dynamic, experienced System Owner to join our team. The e-Drive Systems team lead and support on multiple electrification programmes, specifying and supplying e-drive solutions to the whole of PACCAR global vehicles in conjunction with our vehicle platforms teams. We have team members across the globe and specialise in e-motors and power electronics associated with electric drive systems. 

Our team is continuing to grow with skills and experience needed within our electrification projects across all our brands.

In this role you would: 

Your tasks will depend on our project needs, but we will need you to: 

  • Work from our Leyland facility in the UK as the ‘over-arching systems owner’ for our current and new electrified drives at systems level 
  • Work at base site for 37hrs per week 
  • Work flexibly within the Global PACCAR Powertrain group to support the needs of global stakeholders 
  • Lead and guide other members of the PACCAR Powertrain eDS team on all projects at system level as directed by your Supervisor 
  • Define, develop and validate electric powertrain drivelines at systems level within the commercial vehicle sector 
  • Follow recognised industry standards using V-cycle validation methods and known continuous improvement such as Six Sigma, Agile, 5 Why, Kaizen 
  • Be responsible for bringing together and defining technical requirements specifications, RFIs, RFQs, supplier selection of electric driveline products 
  • Create relevant PACCAR documentation to support integration activities within the eDrive systems to enable successful functions within diagnostics/Functional Safety and Cyber Security for example 
  • Lead/own FRS/FDS level discussions and reviews within IBM DNG and wider collaboration activities 
  • Own and seek resolution to issues as well as negotiate and develop strong inter-company and supplier working relationships 
  • Work with mechanical and electrical design, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams to bring products into mass production through all PACCAR divisions 
  • Provide engineering troubleshooting for mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems
  • Maintain professional competency with emerging technologies 
  • Drive for high quality and efficiency always 
  • Conduct risk reviews, document, and present analysis to various levels within the company.
  • Be able and available to travel nationally and internationally to support projects (20% average). 

 

What we're looking for: 

  • Degree (or higher) or equivalent in Mechanical/Mechatronics/Electrical Engineering 
  • Technical level in Engineering or Computer Science 
  • Chartered Engineer or equivalent recognised professional status or working towards (IET/IMECHe) 
  • Proven background in varied automotive electric driveline systems (3+ years preferred) 
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of electric machines and Power electronics systems. 
  • Knowledge of vehicle functional safety in line with ISO26262  
  • Knowledge of Cyber Security  
  • Automotive industry at OEM level 
  • Experience of cross company communications
  • Experience of continuous improvement. 

 

Person specification: 

You will have a strong interest in vehicle electrification and future propulsion. 

Working as a global company, PACCAR Powertrain needs flexibility, operating in different time zones across the globe there will be the need for autonomous time management to meet these time differences. 

Typically, you will focus on the fundamental areas of: 

eDS Systems ownership/delivery of key system level documentation, supporting technical system challenges and the wider eDrive team deliverables in conjunction with the wider PACCAR Powertrain teams.

Salary 

Circa £55k depending on experience.
