Lead Engineer – Embedded Engineering 

We're looking for a talented Lead Embedded Systems Engineer to join our established Product Development Group in Leyland, Lancashire.

Department 

Define and deliver complex control systems for the next generation of sustainable commercial vehicles. Work within a world-class Product Development team, responsible for new product design and validation for the UK’s market-leading commercial vehicle manufacturer. Leyland Trucks is the centre of medium duty truck expertise within the global PACCAR corporation, and a team of approximately 120 engineers are responsible for the XB vehicle model.

In this role you would: 

  • Lead the Embedded Engineering Team in conjunction with DAF Embedded Teams 
  • Manage VECU software, liaising with Leyland PD and DAF Teams 
  • Develop VIC software to support Paccar Products 
  • Develop electronic architecture to suit current and future products 
  • Maintain Leyland's HIL test capability at the forefront of industry standards 
  • Develop and Coach staff within the Department to meet future plans 
  • Represent the company on technical debates 
  • Develop and drive plans with major unit suppliers for current and future projects 

 

What We're Looking For: 

  • Strong leadership and communication skills 
  • Degree educated in a relevant discipline 
  • In depth knowledge of Embedded Engineering 
  • Liaise with software owners across PD Unit Areas 
  • Strong planning and organisational skills 
  • Ability to provide incisive direction to the team 
  • Provide regular QCTP updates to Senior management on Key Issues 
  • Proven ability to manage high levels of complexity 
  • Self-motivating with drive and initiative

Salary 

Circa £55k depending on experience
