Design Engineer Apprenticeship

Leyland has sole responsibility for the engineering design and development of the DAF XB product within the PACCAR organisation. As an apprentice you will gain a significant amount of knowledge through undertaking a structured rotation around various mechanical and electrical design functions whilst studying towards a degree qualification in your applicable engineering discipline.  You will gain CAD skills and an insight into design areas including chassis, powertrain, cabs and electrical systems.

For those looking to specialise in electrical design you will gain more in-depth skills and knowledge whilst working in areas including electronics, CAN/networking, embedded software/diagnostics, electrical wiring/circuits, systems engineering, requirements definition/capture and management. You will also gain skills on advanced technologies such as those involved with architecture, concepts, safety systems, electrification and levels of driver assistance leading towards vehicle autonomy.

You will acquire the skills and knowledge necessary to undertake the role of a design engineer upon completion of this scheme.

The apprenticeship will last up to six years and results in an academic degree BEng (Hons) in either Mechanical or Electronic Engineering. You will study at UCLan on a day release basis.  We are recruiting for 3 Design Engineer Apprentices this year.
