Design Engineering
Leyland has sole responsibility for the engineering design and development of the DAF XB product within the PACCAR organisation. As an apprentice you will gain a significant amount of knowledge through undertaking a structured rotation around various mechanical and electrical design functions whilst studying towards a degree qualification. You will gain CAD skills and an insight into design areas including chassis, powertrain, cabs and electrical systems.
You will acquire the skills and knowledge necessary to undertake the role of a design engineer upon completion of this scheme.
The apprenticeship will last up to 4-years and results in an academic degree BEng (Hons) in Professional Engineering. You will study at UCLan on a blended basis, which consist of online modules, block release and work-based learning.
What we are looking for
To apply, you’ll need a Level 3 qualification in an engineering related subject. You will also possess a minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade 4 or higher, including Maths, English and Science.
With a keen, demonstrable interest in engineering and electronics technologies, you will be eager to learn and be able to adapt to a changing environment. With the ability to use your own initiative, you will take co-responsibility for your development within the business and help shape your future career.

IT Software Engineer
IT systems underpin our business, and as an apprentice you will learn to support the business and its associated systems to ensure we produce the highest quality trucks. Supporting nearly 1,000 users and in direct physical contact with the business daily, you will gain practical experience of general IT infrastructure and software engineering whilst studying towards a degree level IT qualification. The hands-on experience and the underpinning knowledge which you will gain will enable you to progress your chosen career within IT.
What we are looking for
To apply, you’ll need a Level 3 qualification in a STEM related subject. You will also possess a minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade 4 or higher, including Maths, English and Science.
With a keen, demonstrable interest in IT and a tenacious appetite for problem-solving, you will be eager to learn and adapt to a changing environment. Utilising your initiative, you will take co-responsibility for your development within the business and help shape your future career.

Controls Systems Engineer
Working within our Manufacturing Engineering Team a control systems engineer is a multi-skilled role specialising in engineering systems that are used to monitor and control manufacturing or process operations. You’ll be working across a range of equipment such as Programmable Logic Controllers, Human Machine Interfaces, Robots and Industrial Networks in discreet or process manufacturing environments.
The use of physical tools, software tools and test or diagnostic instruments, are fundamental to carrying out tasks associated with designing, testing, building, installing, pre commissioning, commissioning and maintaining or servicing of control systems and any associated equipment.
What we are looking for
With a keen demonstrable interest in engineering, manufacturing process and systems, you will possess a relevant Level 3 qualification in a STEM subject in addition to a minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade 4 or above including English, Maths & Science.
You will attend University on a blended basis, this consist of online, day release and work-based learning. Over the 4-year scheme you will achieve a BEng(Hons) in Professional Engineering degree as part of the Level 6 Controls System Engineer Apprenticeship standard.

Supply Chain Degree Apprentice
Working within our PACCAR Parts division you will gain experience working within various business functions including continuous improvement, distribution center operations, customer service, materials and logistics. You will combine your level 6 university studies with practical experience gained whilst working “on-the-job” throughout the various structured rotations. The knowledge and experience which you will gain will equip you with the necessary skills and abilities to undertake a wide range of supply chain focused roles.
The apprenticeship will last 4 years and includes you achieving an academic degree in supply chain management.
What We Are Looking For
To apply, you will need a relevant Level 3 qualification and a minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade 4 or higher, including English and Maths. With a keen, demonstrable interest in logistics and supply chains, you will be eager to learn and be able to adapt to a changing environment. With the ability to use your own initiative, you will take co-responsibility for your development within the business and help shape your future career.
