Design Engineering Apprenticeship
Leyland has sole responsibility for the engineering design and development of the DAF XB product within the PACCAR organisation. As an apprentice you will gain a significant amount of knowledge through undertaking a structured rotation around various mechanical and electrical design functions whilst studying towards a degree qualification. You will gain CAD skills and an insight into design areas including chassis, powertrain, cabs and electrical systems.
You will acquire the skills and knowledge necessary to undertake the role of a design engineer upon completion of this scheme.
The apprenticeship will last up to four years and results in an academic degree BEng (Hons) in Professional Engineering. You will study at UCLan on a blended basis, which consist of online modules, block release and work-based learning.
We are recruiting two Design Engineer Apprentices this year.
What we are looking for
To apply, you’ll need a Level 3 qualification (96 UCAS points) in an engineering related subject. You will also possess a minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade 4 or higher, including Maths, English and Science.
With a keen, demonstrable interest in engineering and electronics technologies, you will be eager to learn and be able to adapt to a changing environment. With the ability to use your own initiative, you will take co-responsibility for your development within the business and help shape your future career.

IT Software Engineer Apprenticeship
IT systems underpin our business, and as an apprentice you will learn to support the business and its associated systems to ensure we produce the highest quality trucks. Supporting nearly 1,000 users and in direct physical contact with the business daily, you will gain practical experience of general IT infrastructure and software engineering whilst studying towards a degree level IT qualification. The hands-on experience and the underpinning knowledge which you will gain will enable you to progress your chosen career within IT.
You will attend Blackpool with Fylde College (affiliated by Lancaster University) on a remote/day release basis. We are recruiting one IT Software Engineer Apprentice this year.
What we are looking for
To apply, you’ll need a Level 3 qualification in a STEM related subject. You will also possess a minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade 4 or higher, including Maths, English and Science.
With a keen, demonstrable interest in IT and a tenacious appetite for problem-solving, you will be eager to learn and adapt to a changing environment. Utilising your initiative, you will take co-responsibility for your development within the business and help shape your future career.

Supply Chain Apprenticeship
Working within our Materials Department you'll gain hands-on experience in supply chain management, working closely with procurement, inventory control, and logistics to ensure materials flow seamlessly from suppliers to production.
This apprenticeship, aligned with the Level 6 Supply Chain Practitioner apprenticeship, offers comprehensive training in planning, forecasting, and supplier relationship management, equipping you with the skills and knowledge to excel in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
The knowledge and experience which you will gain will equip you with the necessary skills and abilities to undertake a wide range of supply chain focused roles.
The apprenticeship will last four years and includes you achieving an academic degree in supply chain management.
You will attend Leeds Trinity University on a blended basis. This consists of block delivery, online and work-based learning. We are recruiting one Supply Chain Apprentice this year.
What We Are Looking For
To apply, you will need a relevant Level 3 qualification (96 UCAS points) and a minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English and Maths.
You’ll have a keen, demonstrable interest in logistics and supply chains, you will be eager to learn and be able to adapt to a changing environment. With the ability to use your own initiative, you will take co-responsibility for your development within the business and help shape your future career.
